If you are looking for an easy and impressive Halloween costume you could do worse than go as Princess Fiona, and Shrek if you have a Mr in your life. Cover yourself in green facepaint, put on a red wig and tiara, make shrek ears out of pipe cleaners and half a table tennis ball and you're ready to party, party!! Myself and my Shrek won best costume at the party we went to last year in these outfits.

Dogs Galore
I have just been to the annual Moy Game Fair near Inverness which has everything hunting, fishing related - and you have to have a dog to attend! (we only saw one other beagle there though). We saw some of Hector's close relatives, the foxhounds, performing in the showring.

We sneaked a photo of a very stylish looking couple with their gorgeous dog.
As well as being a wonderful event to visit for dog lovers, Moy is a foodie paradise. We bought some beautifully decorated cupcakes from the Butter Boutique and a big chunk of chocolate with popcorn pieces in it from a fantastic stall selling all things chocolate related - the diet starts next week!

A Very Long Cycling Trip
Just had a visit from an old friend who has cycled the entire length of the country ie from Lands End to John O'Groats, an achievement which I am highly impressed by to put it mildly. I do possess a bike and enjoy cycling but if invited to go cycling by friends I always enquire first if there are going to be major hills involved and, if that is the case, find that I am double-booked for that evening!! Holland is my kind of cycling, ie flat. The sort of bike that I like best is the old fashioned 'sit up and beg' type with a little basket at the front as pictured above. Whenever I hear about people who have successfully managed to achieve these major physical challenges I wonder to myself, could I ever possibly manage to do something like that without dying in the process? One thing that I heard a while back was that more people have climbed Everest than have swum the Channel, a fact that surprised me somewhat. My next, somewhat less ambitious, physical challenge will be walking the Cateran Trail which is in Perthshire and Angus in Scotland. My daughter informs me that blog posts shouldn't be too long so I will take her hint and love and leave you.

My Very First Blog Post
My first blog posting and I feel it should be more momentous than it probably is. I have just returned from a very enjoyable mini-break in Oldshoremore in remotest Scotland. It is a beautiful part of the world - if I can get my techno-minded children to assist I may even be able to show you a little map of it's rough location (they did!) As you can see from the photos it is a very unspoilt and beautiful - digital photography is another area which I have zero knowledge of but I am hoping this blog will give me the incentive to improve. I quite like the picture I took of the couple with the umbrella, a bit Jack Vettriano I thought! The holiday is actually a 'fishing holiday' but I am proud to say that I never had a fishing rod in my hand the entire time. I amuse myself by going on walks to the beach and very bravely even rolled up my jeans and paddled (it was blooming freezing!) I hope you like my photos - thanks to my children for helping me with this. I hope your holidays will be to somewhere as beautiful as Oldshoremore.
